Creating opportunities for new talent is a key part of the Xcede ethos.
Many young people leaving school or university face a difficult obstacle. They need experience to get the job they want, but they need a job to get that experience. This can quickly become a cycle of rejection which can, in turn, create a negative early impression of the workforce. It’s vital that employers offer the next generation of workers not only an opportunity to work, but a chance to learn what it means to be part of a professional team and to try out different sectors and experiences. This provides organisations with access to vital talent, while opening them up to fresh ideas and creativity. At Xcede, we offer work placements across our business, supporting young people from a wide variety of backgrounds as they begin their professional journeys.
Today, we want to share the experience of Josef Wheeler who completed a 6-month placement in our London office. Josef, who is 18, has achieved an enormous amount in the few months he has been an Xceder, and we are incredibly proud of the professionalism, talent, and energy he has brought to his role. Josef kindly shared some of his Xcede experiences in a LinkedIn post, saying:
“I have finished 6 months of working at Xcede, recruiting across Digital Analytics and Performance in Berlin, Hamburg and North-Rhine Westphalia.
Having joined Xcede in April as an inexperienced and somewhat naïve 18-year-old 6 months ago, I could not have imagined that my time here would have panned out the way it did.
I’d just arrived back in the UK having spent 7 months working in Germany, looking for a way to keep up my German, develop myself professionally, and hopefully have a bit of fun on the way. On all accounts, Xcede more than matched my expectations and my time here has set me up better than I could ever have hoped for.
6 months in, I’m proud to have done deals across the analytics and online marketing spectrum at some of Germany’s - and Europe‘s - best known and largest firms.
What’s next? I’m delighted to say that I’ll be joining the University of Cambridge to study Modern and Medieval Languages... but not before one final lunch club this Friday with Xcede!
Special thanks must go to Jon Macaulay, William Jacques, Bao Trinh, Max Effendowicz, Faye Charlesworth and everyone at Xcede who were willing to take a punt on an unproven teenager to come into the German team and made me feel so welcome. Here’s hoping that our paths cross again very soon!”
