I'm currently recruiting for a Cloud Engineer to join a leading UK technology services and solutions provider, supporting a major UK energy and utilities organisation on its cloud infrastructure and digital transformation initiatives.

This is an immediate-start contract running until 31st March 2027, with a strong likelihood of a further six-month minimum extension.

The Role

You will join a central Cloud Engineering team, helping design, develop and enhance cloud infrastructure, automation frameworks and platform services. You'll play a key role in supporting cloud migration, improving platform resilience and availability, and enabling the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures.

The role will also involve supporting a proof of concept (PoC) for Cato Networks, specifically its SD-WAN capabilities, alongside wider cloud infrastructure and network security initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and enhance cloud infrastructure across AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and configuration management solutions.
  • Develop deployment frameworks, self-service capabilities and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support cloud migration, platform transformation and cloud-native architecture initiatives.
  • Contribute to a proof of concept for Cato Networks SD-WAN, supporting testing, validation and implementation activities.
  • Apply knowledge of Zero Trust networking, network security and modern connectivity architectures.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners and engineering teams to deliver cloud platform improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, operational efficiency, resilience and service availability.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, or configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tooling, including GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps.
  • Scripting or software development experience using Python, Go, Java or a similar language.
  • Understanding of cloud-native architectures, networking fundamentals and network security principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with Cato Networks, particularly SD-WAN and/or Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
  • Previous involvement in SD-WAN or SASE proof-of-concept projects.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust Network Architecture.
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • AWS or Azure certifications, or ITIL Foundation.
  • Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments.
Contract Details
  • Rate: £500–£575 per day
  • IR35: Inside IR35
  • Start date: Immediate
  • Initial duration: Until 31st March 2027
  • Extension: Strong likelihood of a further six-month minimum extension
  • Working arrangement: Fully remote
If you're a Cloud Engineer with strong AWS/Azure and automation experience, particularly with exposure to Cato Networks, SD-WAN or Zero Trust networking, I'd be keen to speak with you.
