Head of Data Platforms

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Data Platforms to lead and evolve a modern Data Platform function during a period of growth and change.

This is a senior leadership role combining strategic delivery, operational excellence and vendor management, with responsibility for multiple teams and direct people leadership.

The Role

• Lead the Data Platform organisation, including 3 direct reports, ensuring teams deliver reliably at scale
• Own the delivery and day-to-day operation of the Data Platform, balancing long-term sustainability with near-term priorities
• Partner closely with senior stakeholders across Engineering, Product and Commercial teams to deliver the roadmap
• Provide governance, planning oversight and clear reporting on progress, risks and dependencies
• Own key vendor relationships, supplier performance and commercial governance across the platform portfolio

What You’ll Do

• Drive delivery across a portfolio of Data Platform initiatives, keeping programmes aligned to business priorities
• Run quarterly planning cycles and delivery governance, ensuring clear commitments and outcomes
• Proactively manage delivery risks, cross-team dependencies and stakeholder expectations
• Lead operational excellence for the platform (reliability, scalability, resilience and governance)
• Maintain ownership of technology risk and support operational readiness for peak trading periods
• Manage strategic suppliers and contracts, working closely with Procurement and Finance to ensure value and performance
• Represent the Data Platform function in leadership forums and communicate strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Coach and develop engineering leaders, removing bottlenecks and improving ways of working across teams

What We’re Looking For

• Significant experience leading multiple data and/or engineering teams within a modern technology organisation
• Proven track record delivering complex, cross-functional programmes and roadmaps
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence at senior/executive level
• Experience managing technology vendors, commercial relationships and supplier governance
• Confidence operating in ambiguity and leading through organisational change
• Strong understanding of engineering operational excellence, governance and platform reliability
• Experience with planning, prioritisation and delivery management (including quarterly/OKR-style cycles)
• Demonstrable coaching and development of Managers and leadership capability
• Technical background in Data Platforms, Data Engineering or Platform Engineering
• Ability to balance long-term technical direction with operational delivery

Nice to Have

• Experience with Snowflake, dbt and AWS
• Experience leading a Data Platform or Platform Engineering organisation
• Background in high-growth technology environments
• Exposure to AI or Machine Learning platforms

Package

• Salary: From £140,000 (GBP)
• Location: London, United Kingdom (on-site)
• Hours: 40 per week
