One of the largest clothing retailers in Europe is looking for a Senior Data Engineer. They have over 1,000 stores across Europe & Asia, grossed +€4 billion last year and are looking to continue their success with you.
The position:
- Lead the development of a scalable, reliable, and maintainable data lake architecture using PySpark and Python.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand core processes and translate them into clean, analysable data.
- Design and operate robust data pipelines, prioritizing data quality and business value.
- Architect pragmatic data solutions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Help operationalize machine learning pipelines alongside a dynamic team of data scientists.
- Contribute to software development best practices, including version control, CI/CD, code quality, and documentation.
- Support and optimize on-premise Cloudera infrastructure in collaboration with the IT and Infrastructure teams.
- Mentor junior team members and engage in peer code reviews to continuously raise the bar for quality and collaboration.
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Python (Scala is a plus), with a strong foundation in writing clean, scalable, and testable code.
- Deep knowledge of data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) and storage systems (e.g., HDFS).
- Solid understanding of information systems theory—from relational databases to distributed systems and data modeling.
- Experience with Linux, and bonus points for Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with modern software engineering practices—CI/CD, Kubernetes, code reviews, agile methodologies (as per the Agile Manifesto).
- A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Business fluent in English and German
- Up to €100,000 Salary
