Principal Data Scientist – AI & ML | Long-Term Contract | Remote (Canada)

Join a global data science team as a Principal Data Scientist driving AI innovation for one of the largest digital marketplaces in the world. This is a long-term contract (highly likely to extend) with the option to convert to full-time.

Projects focus on integrating advanced AI/ML solutions into core platform features — powering millions of user interactions across marketplace and fintech domains!
Toront Office (1-2 days a week in office or 1 week in office/1 week wfh)!
Work on real-world Generative AI + LLM use cases!

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design and deployment of predictive & generative models at scale
• Shape strategic AI/ML direction and experimentation roadmap
• Build scalable, cloud-native ML pipelines (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Champion GenAI, LLMs, and cutting-edge AI across cross-functional teams
• Mentor data scientists and influence technical decisions across the org

Ideal Background:

• 10+ years in data science, machine learning, or applied AI
• Strong skills in Python, SQL, TensorFlow/PyTorch
• Hands-on with LLMs, OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, vector DBs
• Deep understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, model governance
• Proven leadership in scaling AI in product environments

Nice to Have:

• Experience in high-scale consumer platforms or e-commerce
• Familiarity with search, pricing, recommendation, or optimization models
• Contributions to open-source or AI communities
