IT Systems Engineer – Contract Role (Hybrid | Birmingham) Contract Type: Initial 2-month contract (with strong potential for extension)

A leading global IT services provider is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer to support a dynamic, mission-driven organisation based in the public and social impact sector.
Working as part of a small, agile internal IT team, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering robust, secure infrastructure solutions across a distributed user base of approximately 1,000 staff across England and Wales.
Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a central escalation point for infrastructure-related issues across the organisation.
• Collaborate closely with internal IT teams and managed service providers to support hardware, software, and information security projects.
• Build strong relationships with third-party IT partners, contributing to smooth service delivery and risk mitigation.
• Deliver and support initiatives aligned with information security standards such as Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001.
• Support and optimise hybrid environments leveraging Microsoft on-premise, Azure, Intune, and Zero Trust networking technologies.

About You: You are a confident and customer-focused IT professional with:

• A strong background supporting IT infrastructure in a distributed, multi-site organisation.
• Hands-on experience with hybrid Microsoft environments (on-prem & Azure), Intune, TCP/IP, and Zero Trust architecture.
• Familiarity with ICT service desk tools and ITIL-aligned support processes.
• Proven experience working with third-party vendors and MSPs in outsourced support models.
• Exposure to security standards and data protection frameworks (Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001).

Certifications in Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, or ISACA will be highly advantageous.
