Principal Data Engineer - Berlin - €120,000 p.a
Xcede have been engaged by a long-standing client, headquartered in Munich, in their search for a Principal Data Engineer.
The company is expanding their Data Engineering team due to a huge increase in demand over the past couple of years. The company have a modern office in Munich and have a global footprint. Our client can offer sponsorship and relocation support to candidates, particularly those within Europe already - candidates should be fluent in English.
This opportunity is the great chance for a candidate to take ownership and responsibility for a team of highly experienced Data Engineers, working on advanced analytics solutions. In addition to this, you'll get the chance to remain hands on from a technical perspective whilst also being involved in mentoring, coaching and guiding the team. Working for this company, you will be expected to contribute to architectural discussions and act as an authority for the data engineering team when broader technical decisions are being made. This is an important position and candidates should demonstrate not only technical understanding, but also the commercial acumen and people skills to match a Principal Engineer position.
Technology Requirements:
- Programming experience - ideally Python, Java or Scala
- Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Data processing tools such as Spark, Flink or Kafka
- Airflow, docker, Kubernetes
- Linux experience is highly advantageous
Furthermore, candidates should be comfortable developing clean code, able to work with different programming patterns and have an understanding of timelines within technology projects. Use of Git and similar is also advantageous as is the ability to engage with customers (particularly those who are less technical) and effectively explain technical details.
In return, you will be provided with a very competitive package up to €120,000 p/a and an environment and company which will help you develop your skills in a challenging environment. Benefits include a €1500 budget for training each year and the opportunity to work on the latest data tools.
