Lead Software Engineer (Python)

Recognized as one of Britain's fastest growing private tech companies, who are also the world's largest online platform specialising in used photography and videography equipment, we are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join the expanding team in Brighton.

Salary: up to £95k+ benefits

Hybrid working: minimum 2 days a week in the office on the seafront in the heart of Brighton - Would consider less time in office for exceptional applicants.

As Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for a team of 5 engineers across a variety of disciplines helping drive forward the delivery of technology that supports the growth plans and taking the lead on complex projects, whilst fostering a culture of quality and openness within the team - having the opportunity to take a cloud native approach to development and infrastructure with lots of scope for experimentation and improvement.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical guidance, thought leadership and collaboration across teams to deliver solutions that go beyond stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure alignment with architectural principles and best practice.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the platform, driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to translate ideas into solutions
  • Champion the Product & Engineering team values

Someone with exceptional coding abilities and a passion for technology would be ideally suited to this role. To be successful, you will be an experienced developer with significant expertise in Python and an established front-end framework such as React. Have a deep understanding of working within a DevOps culture and of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), demonstrable knowledge of docker both building and running images and working in an agile/scrum environment.
