Mid-level Backend Software Engineer (Java)

The Company:

The company are focussed on innovating the efficiency of the shipping industry economically and environmentally. They are backed by one of the UK's most successful tech accelerators. They are developing a range of technologies and applications for recording, monitoring, and analysis of shipping operations.

The Role:

You will be working on the backend and infrastructure part of the system that lets ships across the world log their progress. Collaborate closely with the tech team, on current systems and prototyping new features, and keeping up to date with the latest tech. Their system is deployed on AWS, and development is mostly done in Java, with some Kotlin and Spring. Day to day you will be working on Java development and work within the infrastructure (AWS, Docker, and Terraform)

Tech Stack: Java, Spring, Kotlin, Docker, Terraform and AWS
(do not need experience in whole tech stack)

Requirements:

B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Experience with Java 8 or higher, including the streams API, (Kotlin a bonus)
Working experience with Spring
Knowledge and understanding of databases and the REST protocol
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Exposure to infrastructure and CI/CD
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Unfortunately, the company cannot offer sponsorship for this role
The company are flexible with remote working but need to be commutable to the office (do not offer 100% remote)
