IT Security Specialist is required by a London-based quantitative and systematic investment manager with offices across Europe, Asia and the US. The firm has a technology-driven and scientific approach to financial investment leveraging data, research, technology and trading expertise to achieve significant returns for investors.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Assess the risk of new projects and the impact of adopting new technologies such as open-source software, onboarding managed services and SaaS solutions and extending the perimeter of the environment to restricted geographies
- Contribute to the development of the security strategy and
- Audit the implementation of security controls across cloud and on-prem systems
- Continually evaluate the design of security controls, manage residual risks, and oversee remediation plans
- Participate in compliance reviews
- Scope, plan and analyse vulnerability scans relating to various technologies, systems, appliances, and contexts
- Collaborate with internal technology teams to prioritise risks and vulnerability remediation
Required experience and attributes:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or STEM-related field
- Significant hands-on experience within a technical security role covering a variety of technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management etc.
- Knowledge of malware, hacking techniques and security trends
- Thorough understanding of the latest security best practices, principles, and techniques
- Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux systems security
- Scripting/coding experience with one or more languages - ideally Python
- Flexible and able to adapt to and manage shifting priorities
- Intuitive and delivery-focused approach
- Advisor and problem-solver; can assist stakeholders in determining business opportunity vs risk
