My client in Croydon is looking for a Head of IT Systems role to assist the SBU Portfolio Owner with strategic roadmaps and be accountable for planning and delivering the full lifecycle of IT services in support of the SBU strategy.

The IT services will be delivered using best of breed technologists from across the group and its suppliers. Delivery will be measured against time, cost and quality and this will be achieved through effective leadership and management of IT resources.

Through managing the full ITIL service lifecycle the Head of IT Systems will surface risks and issues ensuring these are a part of the strategic planning considerations with the SBU Portfolio Owner in order to secure a funding stream to drive down operational costs and maintain service standards at appropriate levels.

Key Accountabilities
*Maintain the strong relationship between SBU and CIO
*Guide and become a trusted advisor to the SBU Exec owners of allocated projects, creating a sense of urgency and vision around the initiatives driving pace for delivery
*Responsible for providing a single source of truth regarding the provision of IT Services to the SBU Portfolio.
*Maximise delivery of business value through portfolio initiatives, ensuring benefits are identified, quantified and can be tracked to delivery
*Responsible for bringing technology and industry innovation to the business strategic planning cycle maximising the benefits of supplier relationships as appropriate.
*Responsible for using best of breed technologists in the delivery of the IT change portfolio, embracing shoring/sourcing options as appropriate to achieve the best delivery.
*Accountable for compiling, owning and delivering against a comprehensive, doable portfolio plan, with buy-in from all stakeholder groups.
*Design a portfolio to support business development and operations plans whilst maintaining adherence to budget, quality, IT architecture and governance.
*Take full accountability for the delivery to the business based on agreed budgets, timescales and quality.
*Work collaboratively in a matrix management environment.
*Provide strong and effective leadership to the portfolio delivery team; collaborating with and influencing stakeholders as appropriate and engaging in wider CIO initiatives.
*Build and manage strong delivery relationships with 3rd party suppliers.
*Ensure all deliveries adhere with departmental standards and processes, coaching to continuously improve capability.
*Influence and improve the overall operating model for delivery across business and IT; embed a culture of disciplined delivery and continuous improvement.
*Accountable for portfolio-level reporting creating real transparency about cost, quality and schedule performance, issues and risks.
*Provide leadership for cross- Change functions, such as financials, L&D, Engage, risk, audit, comms, governance etc.
*Enable the portfolio to maintain strategic direction, whilst enabling shorter-term value to be delivered.

Skill Set
*Significant experience of managing and delivering IT services and portfolios of change, ideally in a Financial Services Environment
*Ability to operate and influence at Exec level with creditability
*Strong management of 3rd party providers.
*Willingness to "roll sleeves up" when required is essential.
*Proactive "can do "attitude, prepared to challenge the status quo, the ability to provide and deliver tangible benefits to our customers, both internal and external.
*Managing external 3rd party vendors across the delivery lifecycle.
*Experience in introducing Agile delivery within the organisation.
*Strategic "big picture" thinking within context of growing financial services business - and ability to maintain strategic direction whilst enabling shorter-term value to be delivered
*Good level of self-awareness; pursues self-development; seeks feedback from others and opportunities to master new knowledge and broaden experience
*Excellent Programme, Portfolio and Project Management skills Degree level qualification or equivalent in-depth business experience.
