I'm working with a company who are part of Germany's e-commerce giant, and up until May 2022 they were operating in stealth mode where they developed the first version of their payment platform which serves their mother company and wider group. For context, the platform went live in July 2022 last year (with a newer version released in August this year) and now processes 2 billion euros in transactional data.
The company being relatively new brings certain benefits that you don't see in larger, established companies: less legacy code + more greenfield development; a fluid, flexible working culture which is evolving continuously; excitement of a start-up feel in a very stable and profitable "household name" company. They are on the lookout for a pretty hard-to-find candidate who can be part Cloud Architect and part QA/Testing Champion. There are two other cloud architects in the team so it is not expected that you perform such tasks more than 50% of the time, the rest of your time will be as QA Guild Lead, driving change and pushing for a new testing attitude and processes in the whole company.
In total there are around 150 employees, and around 60 in the IT department, comprising of 7-8 product teams. This team structure is: 2 cloud architects, 1 PO, 1 Security engineer, 2 DevOps engineers + the team lead/PO. They are in charge of governance, cloud platforms and security, and act as a service for all teams, defining the governance and best practices that all adhere to.
What my client are looking for?
- A passionate, proven QA expert with hands-on background in testing in a Java or Cloud environment
- Someone with hands-on skills in AWS, either in several services and/or in architecture. Cloud architecture skills do not need to be expert level, as there are 2 other architects already in the team who focus on this.
- Working on cross-team projects and acting as "champion" (SME), and advising teams on how they should set-up testing processes and to adhere to overarching guidelines
- Fluency in German a must for this team and role
Benefits:
They offer things like 32 days holiday, 100% remote working, discounts at mother company website of 15% and salaries up to €100k for this role.
